New bags in a new design

Dear Phoenix Coffee Roasters Community,

On this page we would like to inform you about the upcoming changes from November 1, 2024.

This year we have already given our store a new coat of paint and soon our bags will also get a new design.

You can still have our new bags refilled in our roastery or our store. This way you save the cost of a bag, because we save you the cost when you refill it.

The switch to the new bags will take place gradually over the next few months as soon as the remaining stocks of our current bags are used up.

Our new bags

  • 100% recyclable packaging
  • New size - 350g, replaces the previous sizes of 250g and 500g
  • New design with the same tasty coffee
  • On the back you will still find a preparation recommendation as well as transparent information on the origin and purchase prices of the green coffee
  • There will also be a QR code on the back of the bags, which will give you even more information about the coffee and allow you to place your next order directly

OLD - NEW

price adjustment

Our principles are based on fair and transparent trade, and we want to continue to be able to offer you our excellent coffees in the usual quality.

For these reasons and the increased costs in all areas - from energy to green coffee to transport costs - we are forced to make a price adjustment.

We will explain the reasons for the price adjustment below. Of course, we are also available to provide you with further information in our store or via other contact channels if you have any questions.

Explanation of the price adjustment

  • Arabica stock market price

The price of Arabica has increased by almost 70% in the last 1.5 years and is currently at its highest level ever.

  • Robusta stock market price

The price of Robusta has more than doubled in the last 1.5 years and is at a record high.

  • energy costs

The processes for producing and processing roasted coffee are very energy-intensive. This, combined with the significant increase in prices* for electricity and gas, among other things, in recent years, is also reflected in our production costs.

*There are no more recent charts available. Prices have currently stabilized at a high level.

  • transport costs

The costs for shipping from the growing countries, the storage costs of the green coffee and our shipping costs* have increased significantly in recent years.

*There are no more recent charts available. Prices are currently even slightly above the level of the fourth quarter of 2023.

Coffee price - why it is rising and what that means

It is well known that the future is traded on the stock exchange - and this is also the case with coffee. The cultivation of green coffee is strongly influenced by the climate. Temperature extremes, such as long-lasting heat waves and unexpected drops in temperature, are increasing due to climate change , as are monsoon-like rainfall in what are normally dry periods.

These weather events cause the coffee plants to shed their cherries to protect themselves, resulting in significant crop losses .

The above-mentioned outages lead to a reduced supply of green coffee, which, however, is offset by a steadily increasing demand for coffee. This situation ultimately leads to rising green coffee prices.

Even though we mostly agree our prices individually and directly with the farmers, they are based on the stock exchange price, which also leads to price increases for our non-stock exchange-listed green coffees.
